Many people who come to visit are surprised to see pets also visiting within the facility. These (mostly dogs or cats) may come in with a staff member or a visitor. The main thing is control. The pet owner needs to maintain control of their pet (and of course clean up after them if there is an accident!). Many residents enjoy seeing the pets as they provide reminders of good times they had with their pets. On the other hand, some residents may be fearful if they had a bad experience at some point in their life. Please be aware of the different reactions you may observe as residents see your pet while visiting. If anyone would like to comment on pets within the nursing home or on pets in general, please feel free to comment in this forum.
